Assen, Netherlands - May 2, 2024
The TT Circuit Assen has reached a contract extension with MotoGP™, ensuring the future of TT Assen until 2031.
The TT Assen, also known as the Wimbledon of motorsport and the oldest event on a permanent circuit, remains a bastion of tradition and unforgettable races. The new agreement is the result of the long and close collaboration between the TT Circuit Assen and MotoGP™, strengthening Assen's position as one of the world's premier motorsport venues. It's no wonder the TT Circuit's nickname is the "Cathedral of Speed."
Arjan Bos, chairman of the TT Circuit Assen, stated: "We are incredibly pleased with this contract extension, especially as MotoGP is rapidly evolving. It confirms the status of TT Assen as one of the highlights on the MotoGP calendar. We are proud to continue building the future of motorsport together with MotoGP™."
In addition to extending the contract for MotoGP, it has also been agreed that the TT Circuit Assen will remain a fixed venue for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship until 2031. This means that motorsport enthusiasts can continue to enjoy top-level action at the historic circuit in Assen, both at MotoGP and World Superbike levels.
This year, Assen is part of the celebration of MotoGP's 75th anniversary, while next year marks the centenary of the first TT race. These milestones underscore the rich history of TT Assen and reinforce the significance of this event for the global motorsport community. Additionally, the TT Circuit has been of great societal importance to Assen and the province of Drenthe for almost a hundred years.
